Market Alert: UK Gas & Power Prices See Major Geopolitical Reversal!

Last week, UK gas prices declined sharply (May-26 contract fell 13.56%) on renewed optimism around a potential Middle East ceasefire, reducing the geopolitical risk premium.

However, that sentiment shifted dramatically this morning. Reports of unsuccessful US/Iran negotiations and the announcement of a proposed Strait of Hormuz blockade have pushed prices sharply higher, effectively reversing Friday's losses.

Today's Market Snapshot:

UK Gas: May-26 contract surged 9.74%, trading at 119.27p/therm.

UK Power: Day-Ahead contract is 15.95% higher at £107/MWh, tracking gas and pressured by weak wind output (currently 4.2GW—well below seasonal norms).

Crude Oil: Brent crude is back above $100/bbl ($101.64/bbl).

EU Storage: Remains historically low at 29.34%, 13% below the five-year average.

Volatility is high—monitor your position closely!
